An Open Letter
This blog is my little effort to let the world know about some very intelligent four-legged friends of mine. They live on the streets, but are very warm and friendly. They are also the descendants of some of the most ancient breeds of dog known to man. All of them carry a strong strain of the Santhal Hound.
Through this blog, I want to let all the dog lovers of this world know about the plight that these dogs are facing? I have seem twelve of their puppies getting run over in the span of a week… sometimes three at a time… and that is just a small number.
Not all the deaths were accidental either. I have seen people pour cold water on them from second floor apartments because the barks disturbed their sleep. I have also seen people lie to rid the streets of. I have seen perfectly healthy and happy dogs poisoned
I have been feeding, and looking after these dogs for a while, but now I think it is time to give them a better place to stay, proper medication and vaccines and good food. They deserve it.
It is my dream to build them a place to live… to give them enough food so that they don’t have to live off the streets… to give them a place to play where they will never have the fear of getting run over… and to keep them healthy so that they don’t have to die as horrible a death that some of their puppies have.
This blog is my first step towards achieving that dream. It’s meant to bring like-minded people, who feel for animals, together. If you feel for these animals, give me a hand by subscribing to this blog. It is free. All you need to do is use the form on the right hand side. The more subscribers we have, the more chance we have to get a fair hearing.
Please help me save their lives.
Warm Regards,
A dog lover

A great cause! many a time we all witness atrocities towards animals but keep mum. That in itself is an atrocity. Its time we understand the value of animals in our lives. I too have grown up with pets in our house- Dogs, Cats, Parrots etc. We always adopt animals that have been abandoned or on the street. While good breeds get a home quickly, it is the street dogs who get a raw deal- even though they guard our neighbourhood every day.

I completely sympathise with your concern. I too have grown up around dogs and it pains me a lot to see the mangled remains of a dog on the street. I would love to contribute in any way to help you realise your dream. The first thing of course is to get funds, and the trick would be to find a senior enough person in a corporate who is also a dog lover!

I’m glad to be part of this endeavour. We have a street dog at our home, and he’s a most well-behaved person. My seven-year-old son regards him as best friend and wants to have more like him. While we have limited means to provide a home to so many dogs, it’ll be great if together we can do something about “Calcutta terriers”.
