So here I am. Back after a eventful weekend that saw two deaths. One was that of a close relative who had been suffering for a while.

The second death came of a public lynching with stones and bamboo sticks, to a magnificent animal. No, it was not a fox. I was mistaken. It was a jackal. A little larger, more powerful, swift, of bright auburn colorings that had specks of white. It was a magnificent animal to behold. But it made a mistake—the mistake of howling and letting its presence known to humans.

I had earlier expressed concern that the animals will not be allowed to live for long. I was unfortunately proven correct again. The people waited till it was Sunday. They would all be at home. So when they assembled as a group of 40 to 50 ruthless men, they would be sure that the animals do not manage to escape.

Yesterday was a dark day for all animal lovers. The humans managed to corner one of the jackals, and then began the crazy chase. It took them 3 hours to get to the animal, and then beat it senseless with sticks and stones. They left it to die on the railway tracks.

What can I say? What can YOU say? Can we even do something?
