Sponsor an INDog
If you are a regular visitor to this blog, you may have noticed the new “Sponsor an INDog” button at the top right hand corner. What was your reaction?
It was most probably: “Oh no! Not again. This blog too has gone the Paypal way!”
You’re probably right. We have opted to go the Paypal way, but that was the best option we could pick considering the circumstances.
What circumstances?
Ones where we can only watch helpless as cars run over innocent dogs, where people pour buckets full of water over them from the third or fourth floors, where they are kicked and harrassed for fun, and where most people just don’t give a damn about whether these dogs live or die.
I know, I have covered these points before, but they need re-iterating. We have an “Adopt a dog” section here on this blog. The response is disheartening. We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for people to open their hearts and their homes to these lovely animals. They just don’t seem to care.
In the mean time, the puppies are growing into young dogs, and with increasing age, their chances of getting adopted are becoming slimmer. Right now, the founder members of this blog support six such dogs out of their own pockets. The number is likely to increase.
Why?
I have to blame this blog for the increase in number. People now know about our initiative, they know what we are trying to do. So they bring new pups to us in order to “save” them. They know we will try our best to give these pups a good food, good treatment, and good lives. At the same time, they will be saved from the gory sight of having these puppies run over in front of their homes.
So, we sat down for a meeting and came up with the “Sponsor a dog” solution. To give you a clearer perspective of things:
$ 1 = Rs. 39
A contribution of $5 = Rs. 195
Eight people contributing $5 in a month = Rs. 1560
We would consider that a generous partial sponsorship amount for a dog. The plan is to raise the rest of the money from local sponsors and socially active pet products manufacturers.
We would like to give something back.
We do not consider it fair to expect sponsorship donations from you without giving something back. So we plan to give something back to you in return for the amount you donate:
1. We have 8 125×125 ad spots available on our sidebar. We propose to give each sponsor an ad spot for a month, for $5 in sponsorship money.
2. We also have one 468×60 banner spot available at the top of our blog. You can have it for a month by donating $7 in sponsorship money.
3. You can have a text ad placed at the footer of every post we make for month by donating $15 in sponsorship money. We make at least 15 posts a month, if not more. You can advertise a different message on every post. The messages will remain intact forever.
I hope this makes it a little easier for you to consider sponsoring an INDog. In return for your gesture, we will give your business/blog/website month-long exposure on Paws Awhile. There will be no ad rotation, and the deal should turn out to be more viable than placing your ads through Project Wonderful.
To conclude
I’ve done my best to explain the situation to you, and I hope you will understand. We do not make any profit from this blog, and we never will. Anything you donate will play a large role in saving a life that can otherwise get cut short very cruelly.
