It’s 2:00 AM in the morning, and I am still in my office, busy working. There’s no time to feel sleepy, although I know that I am going to wake up tomorrow morning with heavy eyelids if I am lucky enough to catch an hour or two of sleep.

For those who are wondering, no I do not work shifts. It is just that my eight-hour work day sometimes roll on to 12, 16, 18 hours. It happens when you are working with people who are sitting half-way across the world, whose morning starts when night sets in for you. Now before you speculate… no I do not work for an outsourcing firm.

Although I am an Indian, and I work with American clients, my employers are independent service providers who compete with global companies for job contracts. Yet, the outsourcing label seems inseparable with my nationality these days. Even our regular clients treat us as if we are stealing American jobs. It’s sad… because the contempt takes away all the appreciation for jobs well done… for sleepless nights like this.

It’s been like this last week as well. As a result, I have fallen back on a lot of things… including Entrecard dropping, posting, acknowledging guest posts sent in by dedicated members of this blog like Dr. Manik Godbole, and taking care of my own health. I apologize to everyone concerned. Hopefully, things will fall back on track next week.

It’s not really fun going home at 4 in the morning… especially when it tends to rain every night, but when you step out of the car and see a shadow streaking towards you in the dark… when you shout out… “No, no… don’t jump! I just brought this dress back from the laundry!” and then realize almost immediately that it is of no avail… when you feel two paws resting on your waist, and extend your hand to find that a dog, completely drenched, but incredibly happy is looking up at you… then, you realize that at the end of the day this is what matters.
